What's the perfect Spring Break??? Take the top Salomon international athletes, a handful of the world's up and coming groms, sunny California weather, and a world class terrain park. Boys and Girls, school is out and Salomon Jib Academy is going off at Mammoth Mountain, CA.
Salomon Jib Academy kids have officially taken control of the Mammoth Mountain Terrain Park (and the pool at the Inn.) With their entourage of filmers and photographers, twenty five freeskiers are sessioning the features, befriending international mates, and enjoying the best Spring Break of their lives.
For most of the kids, this is their first time out West and for many it is their first trip to the U.S. The Jib Academy finalists are some of the top freeskiing kids from around the globe and here they have the chance to meet and ski with eachother. According to Nick Goeppr from Ohio,
"Jib Academy is so fun. I love hanging out with kids from all over world, being out West in a sick park with good jumps and gnarly hang time is the best."
The finalists have been skiing side by side with top Salomon athletes, such as Sammy Carlson and Peter Olenick. Injured, Simon Dumont is offering up some advice while sunbathing topless on the sidelines of a kicker. Henrik Harlaut from Sweden, says, "The kickers are good and the rails are in perfect shape. I am having fun skiing with everyone. Mike Clarke is helping me learn a 450 Pretzel 270."
Besides skiing, athletes have been wreaking havoc on vacationing families while practicing their D-Spins into the pool, and playing practical jokes on each other. Last night Salomon hosted a world class bowling party at the Back Alley, in Bishop. Top bowlers included the Godfather, Mike Douglas, who bowled the only turkey of the night. Closet bowlers, Simon and Peter, had it out, with Simon coming out on top with a score of 157. Only one athlete almost got left in Bishop, and another didn't realize he still had has bowling shoes on until we made it back to Mammoth. Just another day at the Salomon Jib Academy.
Stay tuned for more updates.
