After another great 24 hours filled with movies from Stept Productions, Poor Boyz, Level One, Ride the Planets and more, it was Johnny Decesare and his Poor Boyz crew who took home the title of Best Overall Film for 2008 with their film, Reasons. The group also received the honor of Best Editing and Best Single shot.
“We put everything we had in to the film this year. We tried a new approach to ski film making with all these athletes and it’s beyond exciting to receive these awards,” said an elated Decesare. Poor Boyz athletes and supporters stormed the stage to congratulate Johnny and his team on Saturday night.
The awards event was broadcasted live on Newschoolers.com where thousands of eager ski fans could participate in a live chat format to give there two cents on the evening. Movie highlights included Mark Abma and Douglas showing why Whistler is truly a skiers dream come true, Simon Dumont’s world quarter pipe record and Andreas Hatveit’s follow camera footage. Check out poorboyz.com for a showing in your area. This is not a movie to miss on the big screen this fall.
Other stand out movies included Level One’s Turbo. This movie definitely stole the show for its rail footage from athletes like Henrik Harlaut, who won the award for Best Amateur. Tanner Hall claimed the Best Male Performance award and Jamie Burge snagged this one for the ladies.
Congratulations to Poor Boyz Productions and all of the athletes and filmers that made this year’s International Freeski Film Festival go down in history. Our guess is that these guys will have to sleep it off for a few days after such an amazing event but they should have their site updated shortly!
