The very last stage of the 2008 Freeride World Tour took place in Verbier, Switzerland, and crowned our Salomon riders Kaj Zackrisson and Elyse Saugstad, who claimed a superb double winning both men’s and women’s competition!
World famous Freeride Contest, Verbier Extrem is usually organized on the impressive Bec Des Ross venue but unfortunately this year the contest had to be moved to another great venue, Le Mont Gele following a big avalanch on the famous slope.
In the women’s category, Alaskan Salomon skier Elyse Saugstad dominated the contest with a solid and impressive run, including two cliff jumps perfectly landed. After her recent successes in Tignes and Sochi Freeride World Tour, Elyse claimed her 3rd victory in Verbier and wins the 2008 FWT Overall ranking!

In the men’s competition, both favorites Michaud and Vindstet fell and it’s our swedish rider Kaj Zackrisson, who took the advantage. Thanks to a super technical line, beautiful 15m jumps and high speed turns to the end, Kaj wins his second FWT this winter after his success in the Big Mountain Pro and also claimed  his second victory in the Verbier Extrem.

To complete this great double, american talent and Salomon rider Cody Towsend achieved an amazing run, including impressive jumps and solid technique, to claim his first ever podium in a major Freeride World Tour event. After his victory early this winter in Mammoth Freeride World Tour Qualifying Event, Cody proved that he is now among the very best riders in the world!
