US FREESKING OPEN
01.02.2008

After an exciting week at the Winter X Games, the Salomon team is gathered at Copper Mtn. for the US Freeskiing Open. Simon Dumont took the silver medal in the X Games Superpipe but suffered a shoulder injury while attempting to break the world quarter pipe record in Aspen. Simon is in high spirits and is looking forward to competing in the Jeep Tour halfpipe event at Squaw next weekend. His good mood may be somewhat attributed to the fact that he met Carmen Electra earlier this week when he appeared on TRL in New York City. Charles Gagnier had a solid week at X and is here at Copper with Salomon teammates Sammy Carlson, Matt Walker, Meg Olenick and many more. Charles and Sammy will be competing later this week in slopestyle, pipe and big air. After an unlucky week in Aspen for Sammy, he is really looking forward competing in Friday’s slopestyle competition. Last year’s Jib Academy star, Nick Martini, made it through a tough qualifying field yesterday and will be moving on to the semi finals with Charles and Sammy on Friday. The last round of slopestyle qualifiers is going on today, Thursday, and we’ll be getting more results later this evening. Matt Walker and AJ Kempainen threw down great runs early this morning in the freezing cold and Mike Clarke will be on course later this afternoon.
