WHISTLER SKI INVITATIONAL20.04.2007
Like every other year, the Whistler Ski Invitational has drawn a crowd of thousands to watch the best skiers in the world compete. Athletes compete in many events throughout the week including slopestyle, pipe, big air and rails. The Slopestyle event (Stompede) went off on Sunday with a diverse set up of rail features. Salomon athlete, Charles Gagnier, placed second with amazing switch-ups and smooth Gagnier style. Fellow Canadian Mike Riddle placed first.
Tonight was the Rail Jam with Charles, Sammy Carlson and Mike Henitiuk putting on quite a show for an enormous crowd. Sammy Carlson took home first place out of 16 skiers. Athletes had one hour to session the rails as many times as possible. Rumor has it that Sammy may win a year's supply of McDonalds. Just what he needs!
Friday is the Superpipe Semi-Finals followed by the Pipe Finals and Big Air on Saturday.
