Your great performance on the Freeride World Tour, especially your first podium in Verbier and 5th place in Tignes?

This year was my first year competing in Freeride skiing.  So I had a lot to learn while stepping it up against the best in the world.  There were many challenges and the successes I had made a lot of it worthwhile. I plan to come back on tour next year with all of my focus going into winning the world title.

Your best sessions last winter filming, shooting or travelling?

My best session last year was up in Haines, Alaska shooting for Rage Films new release “Such is Life”.  Alaska is skiing mecca and every year I go up there it just gets better and better.  I could honestly wax on and on about how cool Alaska is but more than that I just recommend everyone go someday.

Where do you ski this summer? Any special project?

For the summer of ’08 I’ll be heading down to Chile and Argentina for some training and super duper secret ski testing.  It’s great to get down to South America in the summer.  I love everything down there, the culture, the people, the food and the wine, but most of all it’s great to keep the endless winter going.

What about your projects for next winter: contests ? filming, photo shooting,

travelling…?

Well most of my focus for the upcoming season is going after the world title on the Freeride World Tour.  Other than that I’ll be filming with Rage Films again trying to step up my game in the backcountry and most of all in Alaska.

What about sharing the Freeski life, competitions and also risks with your girl friend Elyse?

Traveling and competing with Elyse has been great.  It makes the highs that much higher because you have your girlfriend there to celebrate along with. The only downside is it was the first time in my life I’ve gotten nervous for someone else before their competition runs.

What about the new Salomon Freeski range? What do you like the

most in these new skis?

What I mostly like about the Salomon Freeski range is a commitment to the basic principles of freeskiing; creativity, durability and fun.  All the skis are like no other skis out there, utilize technologies to make them extra tough and durable while still making snow sliding super fun.

What about your skiing career: where did you start? What were the main steps

of you career?

I grew up in Santa Cruz, California and began skiing when I was 2 years old. My parents were diehard skiers and would drive up to Tahoe (5 hours drive, each way) every weekend. I fell in love with skiing from a very young age and never looked back. It’s been my focus, my passion and my life since the first day I put on skis. I think the only reason I’ve had successes in ski racing and freeriding is because I love skiing so damn much

Who is Cody beside skiing: where and how do you live? What are your other

passions and hobbies?

Well I’m a very active person. If I don’t do some sort of sport or physical activity, I don’t feel like the day is complete. I’m also really into organic food and good wine. I also love to be on the river fly fishing, play poker until the sun comes up and ride my motorcycle around the hills of Santa Cruz. But most of all I just want to see, taste, and experience the many different things this world has to offer.
