Father figure of the Freestyle movement right from the start, today Mike continues to be one of the major players on the snow. Always inventive, this Canadian has contributed to the great emergence of the Freestyle New School and twin tip concept. All-round rider, Mike is also at the very core of the fusion between the Freestyle and Big Mountain movements, as well as being a Video producer and TV commentator!

Spots to ride backcountry & also your best ever session:  Whistler Backcountry by sled and heli.  My best session was three seasons ago at Mica Heli Guides.  I’ve never been so lucky with the conditions. We arrived and found waist deep powder and stable snow conditions.  By the end of the first day, the sky cleared and we never saw a cloud for the rest of the trip

Favorite tricks and the one you are working on mastering: Anything floaty feeling. I’m trying to figure out how to raise two kids.

Best memory in a contest and favorite performance: The K2 Back 9 contest in Whistler.  I really didn’t think I could win against all those young hotshot whipper-snappers.
