DUMONT CUP GOES OFF AT SUNDAY RIVER WITH GREAT WEATHER AND $15,000.00 IN PRIZE MONEY!

Dumont Open Starting gateWell its in the books folks, the first ever Dumont Open went off this past weekend at Sundat River in the Rocking Chair park located right at the bottom of Barker Mountain with huge crowds in attendance  and sunny skies to thank! Just over 70 Pro's and Am's  made it out to Sunday River to find the biggest slope style set-up in the east as well as tons of soft snow and 15K up for grab at  the first inaugural event.

The comp was a three run format on Sunday with qualifiers during the morning and practice on saturday so everybody could gauge the size of the before the actual comp started.

The course consisted of a canon box at the top with a huge 70 foot step down that was followed by a 80 footer in front of the judges stand finished off by three rails which were a down rail a down -flat and a down -flat down.

Making the drive to Sunday River from Quebec was none other than the Gagnier brothers from Mt St. Anne  that threw down hard but were short handed in the finals with slowish snow and slush not allowing them throw down what they wanted to impress the judges.

The Qually's fielded a super rounded talent pool that Van Valin, Steel Spence, Hibbert Dumont and the rest of the judges felt should move on including Charles Gagnier, Vincent Gagnier, Henrik Lampert, Mike Riddle, Joe "Cheese Belly" Schuster, Scott Nelson,Laurent Farve, Samuel Lagrande, Chris Laker, Charlie Owens, Clayton Villa Joss Christensen, Tyler Thistle Maks Gorham, Dale Talkington and Matt Margetts.

2) Joss Christensen $5000.00 and a pair of new Dumont Pro Model skis

After the awards and the rail jam was finished and all after bangs were finished off the the afternoon Dumont stuck around like a true host to sign autographs and throw give aways out to the huge crowds that showed up to watch.

A huge thanks goes out to Michael Spencer, Jack Flemming, Nick Lambert and the park staff at Sunday River for making this event go off as smoth as it did over the weekend. See you all next year for what sounds like it will be the biggest Pro/ Am  event of the year!! Get ready to mark your calendars!!
