After failing to even qualify for finals in last year’s Winter X Games slopestyle competition, Sammy Carlson jumped, slid, poked and grabbed his way to an X Games Silver medal in men’s skiing slopestyle. This is Carlson’s second X Games silver medal.
“The course was amazing this year, said the elated skier. Skiers really had to take it to the next level.” Teammates Charles Gagnier, Matt Walker and Bobby Brown also made their way in to the final, creating a 50% Salomon field with four out of the eight finalists. Each finalist was awarded three runs allowing competitors to get creative. Matt Walker threw down the solid run that he was ultimately hoping for and Bobby Brown busted out his signature double. In the end it was TJ Schiller, Sammy Carlson and Colby West taking home the medals in that order.
