Last year’s Jib Academy winner from Waterville Valley, New Hampshire, Nick Martini, is pretty stoked right now. He’s getting on a plane next week with Simon Dumont and Sammy Carlson to compete in the King of Style Big Air in Stockholm, Sweden; an event that Sammy won last year. The trip to Sweden was a special prize that Nick won at the Jib Academy Final in Mammoth, last May.
“The Jib Academy is a good way for kids to get their name out there, get more opportunities and get hooked up with good companies like Salomon, said the Waterville Valley Academy senior. Going to Sweden will be my first ever international skiing competition and I can’t wait!”
We’ll keep you posted on how Nick does next week in the big comp. After he returns from Sweden he plans on training with his freeride team in Colorado and back at Waterville Valley. Rumor has it that Nick will make a guest coach appearance at one of the 2008 Jib Academy stops.
Congratulations Nick! Have fun in Sweden….ehhhhh, not too much fun!
